The Heart of Movement 6 - The hands of heaven and earth

This is a new version of a lesson I created about 10 years ago called ‘The hands of heaven and earth’. It explores the relationship between the occiput and sacrum and the hands and feet.

Created using the Visible Bodies App

As you can see, the occiput faces up and sits on top of the spine at an angle (just as the feet sit below the leg at an angle). The sacrum is continuous with the spine and faces forward (just as the hands are continuous with the arms and face in).

There is a certain relationship between being and doing here .. and a question of where a concepts such as heaven and earth begin and end ..

So as we focus our occiput toward the heavens like a telescope and channel starlight down through the prisms of our heart and sacrum to the earth, we may find a certain sensitivity in the way we move our spine. One thing is certain .. This lesson will make it easy to dance and you’ll walk with an effortless flow ..
