The Central Limb 4 - The front and back to the sides

This lesson goes right to the heart of the paradoxical nature of our bodily experience. The sense of hard and soft .. spacious and dense .. all at the same time. We’ll be right in the heart of our visceral skull .. The Maxilla and Mandible .. and we’ll be looking at it in relation to the rest of our body. Here are the two maxilla bones highlighted ..

and here they are from above so you can see how they form the base of the nose and the hard palate, the bridge of the nose and the base of the eye sockets ..

It’s so absolutely central and so absolutely personal. Someone may be able to brush a crumb from your bottom jaw without too much fuss .. but your upper jaw is probably a different matter.

Our mouth has many functions but it’s that role as a bridge between within and without that for me makes it so interesting.

There is also the functional link between the jaws and pelvis that many of you are already aware of. We’ll explore it in a way that you may not have considered before.

The teeth, the tongue the lips .. The experience of them all is so diverse and rich.

Of course in our often two dimensional culture only the surface is seen but it’s what lies within, beneath and behind that is really quite amazing.

Hopefully this in this lesson you’ll find it. You’ll need a clean piece of wall and perhaps you could use two scented things. A flower, some freshly ground coffee .. anything you could tune into.

This blog post relates to the 4th lesson in the Central Limb series. You can find that lesson by clicking here
